In the first half of 2021, South Korea achieved an intellectual property rights surplus of $140 million, a turnaround from last year's deficit. This growth was primarily driven by a $1.34 billion surplus in copyright trade, particularly in cultural and art sectors. The manufacturing sector reported a surplus of $1.66 billion, while the service sector faced a $1.62 billion deficit. South Korea continues to have trade deficits with the U.S. and the UK but surpluses with China and Vietnam.
