120 MW Ruakākā solar farm approved in NZ, supplying power to 50% of homes, begins in 2025.

Meridian Energy has received approval to construct a 120 MW solar farm in Ruakākā, Northland, New Zealand, which will supply power to over half of the region's homes. This initiative aims to enhance local energy resilience by decreasing reliance on electricity from other areas. Construction is slated to begin in early 2025, pending final decisions and appeals. Meridian plans to invest $3 billion in renewable energy projects through 2030 to address growing clean energy demands.
