Fire at under-construction JoAnn Leleck Elementary School in Silver Spring, no injuries, cause under investigation.

A fire occurred Tuesday night at the under-construction JoAnn Leleck Elementary School in Silver Spring, Montgomery County. Smoke was reported around 9 p.m., and approximately 75 firefighters responded to combat the blaze, which vented from the roof. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The school, which is part of a $66 million project set to be completed in August 2026, aims to be the largest capacity elementary school in the county. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
