Hakim Oden, 25, from El Cerrito, has been sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the first-degree murder of his 19-year-old coworker, Taiepisi Gutu, at the San Francisco Conservation Corps in 2019. Motivated by jealousy, Oden shot Gutu execution-style on his birthday. Following the crime, he fled and was arrested after a shootout with law enforcement. Oden also received a concurrent three-year sentence for a previous robbery.
