30-year-old Florida man rescued by mailboat while swimming from Windsor to Detroit.

A 30-year-old man from Florida was rescued by the J.W. Westcott mailboat while attempting to swim from Windsor, Canada, to Detroit late Monday night. The crew spotted him in a life ring and assisted him onto their deck. He appeared disoriented, possibly under the influence, but was not injured. The mailboat crew transferred him to a Detroit fireboat for further care. Authorities noted his survival chances would have been slim without the timely rescue.
