Kelvin Higginbotham, a 55-year-old deputy with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, was arrested on September 23 for domestic abuse and illegal weapon use after a firearm was discharged during a domestic disturbance at his home. No injuries were reported. Following the incident, Higginbotham was terminated from his part-time position in the sheriff's office, which enforces a zero-tolerance policy on domestic violence. He was booked into the local detention center.
