Christopher Halla, a 42-year-old from Westfield, Massachusetts, faces manslaughter and tampering with evidence charges linked to the overdose death of a 57-year-old South Hadley woman. He allegedly sold her metonitazene, a synthetic opioid more potent than fentanyl, claiming it was oxycodone. Halla was indicted by a grand jury and has also been charged with possession with intent to distribute. His arraignment for the second indictment is pending.
