Volkswagen ends Polo production in Europe after 40 years, shifts focus to electric vehicles.

Volkswagen has ended production of the Polo model in Europe after 40 years, shifting focus to electric vehicles (EVs). The last Polo was produced at the Pamplona plant in Spain, which will be repurposed to manufacture two small electric SUVs starting in 2026. The Polo, a top-selling car with over 8.4 million units sold, will continue to be produced in South Africa. Volkswagen's CEO emphasized this transition as a step towards leading the affordable EV market.
