Startups like Lithos, UNDO Carbon, and Eion are researching carbon-absorbing rocks to enhance agricultural soil while permanently capturing atmospheric carbon. Agriculture accounts for over 10% of global carbon emissions. Eion, which uses olivine, aims to remove the carbon equivalent of 2 million cars annually by 2030. With $20 million raised from investors, it currently operates in Mississippi and plans to expand to Illinois and other regions.
