Ähtäri Zoo in Finland will return its two giant pandas to China later this year due to financial difficulties. The pandas, housed in the zoo since 2018 under a 15-year species preservation agreement, can no longer be supported by the zoo's insufficient resources. The zoo's board chair, Risto Sivonen, indicated plans for debt restructuring as part of their efforts to address ongoing financial challenges.
