9,000+ drug-related cases backlog in Zimbabwe's NPAZ due to CID Narcotics delays, report says.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) faces a backlog of over 9,000 drug-related cases, largely due to delays in receiving test results from the CID Narcotics unit, as noted in Prosecutor General Loice Matanda Moyo's 2023 report. While the backlog decreased from 16,373 in 2022, the NPAZ is actively working with the CID to expedite testing. The World Health Organization previously estimated significant global deaths linked to drug use disorders.
