10% drop in Ireland's natural gas demand due to increased renewable energy generation in August.

In August, Ireland saw an increase in renewable energy generation due to strong winds, leading to a 10% drop in natural gas demand compared to July. Gas still accounted for 37% of electricity generation, remaining the largest energy source. Wind energy rose to 34% of total generation, up from 22% in July. Despite decreased gas demand, its reliability during low wind periods highlighted ongoing reliance on fossil fuels amid limited renewable energy storage.
