The Cincinnati Reds have fired manager David Bell after six seasons, following a disappointing 76-81 record and their fourth consecutive missed playoff berth. President of baseball operations Nick Krall stated a change was necessary to advance the team. Bench coach Freddie Benavides will serve as interim manager for the final five games of the season. Bell's overall record with the Reds was 409-456, with only one postseason appearance in 2020.
