BRS members detained by police while investigating Hyderabad's maternal and infant mortality rates.
Members of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) were detained by police while trying to investigate rising maternal and infant mortality rates at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad. The BRS formed a three-member committee for this purpose, led by former health minister T. Rajaiah. BRS officials accused the Congress-led government of obstructing their inquiry, suggesting it feared exposure of healthcare failures. BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao demanded the immediate release of the detained members.
