Richard Errico, a 54-year-old sanitation worker and 19-year veteran of the New York City Department of Sanitation, died on Saturday in an accident at a garage in Douglaston, Queens. He fell from a sanitation truck while attempting a U-turn, and emergency services pronounced him dead at the scene. The NYPD is investigating the incident, which marks the first line-of-duty death for a sanitation worker since 2014. Mayor Eric Adams expressed condolences and recognized Errico's service.
