Starting in October, student loan borrowers who miss payments will risk delinquency and default as reporting resumes. Following the end of a pandemic-related payment pause, the Biden Administration provided a 12-month grace period to help borrowers, which lasts until September 30, 2024. After this date, protections will no longer apply, leaving borrowers vulnerable to financial consequences for missed payments.
