India's GST GoM in Goa discusses potential changes to the tax structure, including merging 12% and 18% slabs.

On September 25, India's Group of Ministers (GoM) on Goods and Services Tax (GST) will meet in Goa to discuss potential changes to the four-tier tax structure, currently set at 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Led by Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the panel may consider merging the 12% and 18% slabs due to concerns over the average GST rate falling below the necessary revenue neutral rate. However, some states, including West Bengal and Karnataka, oppose such changes.
