Indian government approves 2,500 MW hydro pumped storage projects in Maharashtra.

The Indian government has approved two hydro pumped storage projects in Maharashtra, totaling 2,500 MW. The 1,500 MW Bhavali project by JSW Energy and the 1,000 MW Bhivpuri project by Tata Power will enhance renewable energy integration, provide over 15 GWh of storage capacity, and improve grid stability by 2028. This initiative reflects the increasing involvement of private companies in India's energy transition and aims for 15 hydro PSPs by FY25.
