Buffalo reintroduces fluoride to drinking water after nine-year hiatus, with Erie County Department of Health approval.

Buffalo will reintroduce fluoride to its drinking water after a nine-year hiatus, starting Tuesday, following approval from the Erie County Department of Health. The city's fluoridation system had been halted since 2015 but was only discovered by residents in 2023. A lawsuit from concerned parents prompted action for fluoride's return. Upgrades to the system, including a flow meter installation, were finalized in July.
