50-year-old swimmer bitten by sea lion off Mission Beach, San Diego, treated at hospital.
A 50-year-old man swimming about 50 yards offshore at Mission Beach, San Diego, was bitten by a sea lion on Friday night. A nearby boogie boarder witnessed the attack and alerted lifeguards, who rescued the swimmer and provided first aid. He was taken to a hospital with multiple non-life-threatening bite wounds. San Diego lifeguards noted that such attacks on regular swimmers are unusual. The incident is under investigation.
