Punjab government to launch brand for state-produced silk products, doubling silk production by 2025.

The Punjab government, led by Horticulture Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra, will launch a brand for state-produced silk products to enhance farmers' incomes and boost local economy. Announced at the Silk Day event, the initiative aims to double silk production by 2025. Sericulture is practiced in about 230 villages involving 1,200-1,400 silk rearers. The government will set up reeling units, including one in Pathankot, to increase prices for farmers' silk.
