Pakistan's ECC authorizes export of 100,000 metric tonnes of surplus sugar and conditionally approves 40,000 tonnes to Tajikistan.
Pakistan's Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has authorized the export of 100,000 metric tonnes of surplus sugar, alongside conditional approval for 40,000 metric tonnes to Tajikistan, pending a final agreement. This decision is supported by a stable currency and strong remittance flows, with foreign exchange reserves at a 26-month high. The ECC noted surplus sugar stocks of 4.8 million metric tonnes ahead of the new crushing season.
