Navy Adm. Lisa Franchetti, the U.S. Navy's highest-ranking officer, successfully treated early-stage breast cancer after it was detected during a routine mammogram in June. Following outpatient surgery in July at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and additional therapy, she is now cancer-free. Franchetti, nominated to be the first female chief of naval operations, emphasized the importance of early screening and expressed gratitude for her care.
