Lifespan, Rhode Island's largest hospital group, has laid off 20% of its executives to streamline operations and save $6 million in the upcoming fiscal year. Newport Hospital President Crista Durand was among those let go. The restructuring aims to prioritize patient care. Lifespan plans to rebrand as Brown University Health in 2024 and recently secured approval to purchase two hospitals from Steward Health Care.
