BMC halts demolition of Mehboob-E-Subhani mosque unauthorized section after local protests.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has halted plans to demolish an unauthorized section of the Mehboob-E-Subhani mosque in Dharavi, following significant local protests. After discussions with community leaders and the Chief Minister, the BMC agreed to allow mosque trustees four to five days to address the encroachment themselves. Police were deployed to maintain order, as tensions rose during the initial attempt at demolition.
