In the first half of 2024, Russia's trade with Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries rose by 6.7% from the previous year, driven primarily by Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Armenia. Belarus accounted for 42.3% of this trade. Overall, CIS countries represent 16% of Russia's trade. Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk noted a focus on enhancing cooperation in sectors like energy and agriculture, alongside an increase in using national currencies for transactions.
