Newborn dies at Bankstown Hospital due to nitrous oxide instead of oxygen mistake, gasfitter Christopher Turner charged with manslaughter and GBH.

Gasfitter Christopher Laurie Turner has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter by criminal negligence and grievous bodily harm related to the 2016 death of a newborn at Bankstown Hospital. He is accused of certifying faulty oxygen links, resulting in the infant receiving nitrous oxide instead of oxygen. Another baby also suffered a brain injury due to the same negligence. Turner's case is set for mention on October 9, after he was charged in August 2022.
