19-year-old Yasmin Martin sentenced to 8 years in prison for causing high-speed, alcohol-related crash that killed friend Mia Marsh in Sunderland.

Yasmin Martin, now 19, was sentenced to eight years in prison for causing the death of her best friend, 17-year-old Mia Marsh, in a high-speed crash in Sunderland. In December 2022, Martin drove at over 70 mph in a 30 mph zone while nearly double the legal alcohol limit, despite Mia's pleas to slow down. After losing control and crashing, Martin initially misled authorities about the incident. She will also face a five-year driving ban post-release.
