The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized Jordan as the first country to eliminate leprosy, achieving this milestone after over two decades without local cases. The WHO credits Jordan's success to strong political will and effective public health measures. Although leprosy is curable with multidrug therapy, it remains a global issue, with over 200,000 new cases reported annually in more than 120 countries.
