Taiwan has become the first country in Asia to legally recognize same-sex marriages between Chinese and Taiwanese nationals, marking a significant step for cross-strait unions. Same-sex partners must marry in one of 35 countries that recognize marriage equality, then submit their marriage certificate to register in Taiwan.
