Nebraska State Patrol's Crime Laboratory begins $26M expansion to nearly double its size due to increased case submissions.

The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) has begun a $26 million expansion of its Crime Laboratory, set to nearly double its size from 31,000 to 59,000 square feet. This expansion responds to a 23% rise in case submissions since 2015, including a 90% increase in DNA testing. Completion is anticipated by mid to late 2026, with the project creating four new jobs. The lab provides essential forensic services to law enforcement across Nebraska.
