Zimbabwe's new school-feeding program, initiated due to an El Niño-induced drought, has improved school attendance and reduced dropouts among rural children facing hunger. President Emmerson Mnangagwa declared the drought a national disaster and requested $3 billion for relief efforts. The program has distributed 27,000 tonnes of grain and is expected to enhance concentration and academic performance, though only 7.5% of children previously had access to hot meals at school.
