Air India has launched a $400 million initiative to upgrade 67 older aircraft, starting with 27 Airbus A320neo planes. The refurbishment will introduce a three-class seating configuration and over 15,000 new seats, enhancing passenger experience. The first upgraded A320 is expected to return to service in December 2024, with the entire narrow-body fleet set for completion by mid-2025. The program is part of Tata Group's broader transformation strategy for the airline.
