West Virginia extends personal income tax payment deadline due to MyTaxes portal issues.
The West Virginia Tax Division has extended the deadline for the third installment of personal income tax payments from September 15 to September 18 due to technical issues with the MyTaxes online payment portal. Personal income tax accounts for nearly 40% of the state's tax revenue, with over $2.2 billion collected in fiscal year 2024. Efforts are underway by Governor Jim Justice and the legislature to reduce and potentially eliminate this tax.
