Voting rights groups sue Alabama Secretary of State over policy targeting naturalized citizens.
Voting rights groups, including the Campaign Legal Center and Southern Poverty Law Center, have sued Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen, alleging his policy to remove individuals with noncitizen identification numbers from voter rolls unlawfully targets naturalized citizens. The lawsuit highlights that 3,251 individuals' registrations may be flagged for inactivity, potentially disenfranchising eligible voters. Allen acknowledged some may have become citizens but requires them to update their information.
