Statistics Canada has revamped its method for tracking wireless plan prices by incorporating actual sales data from telecom companies, alongside previously used web-collected data. This change aims to enhance accuracy in reflecting consumer costs and inflation rates. In August, cellular service prices dropped by 12.8% year-over-year. However, the agency advises caution in interpreting this data during the first year after the methodology shift, as it comprises 1.22% of the Consumer Price Index.
