flag Savannah man receives $1.4 million placeholder speeding ticket, actual fine not to exceed $1,000.

Connor Cato of Savannah, Georgia, received a shocking $1.4 million speeding ticket for driving 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. Authorities later clarified that the amount was an auto-generated "placeholder" from e-citation software, not an actual penalty. The true fine, to be determined by a judge, will not exceed $1,000. In response to the confusion and media attention, the Recorder's Court is revising the placeholder language used in citations.
