Michigan State Police Officer Daniel Kerstetter, 45, died after being critically injured in a crash on I-75 during a traffic stop on September 13, 2024. A Ford Explorer struck his patrol vehicle, pushing it into a semi-truck. The driver of the Explorer died, while Kerstetter was placed on life support but ultimately did not recover. His family decided to donate his organs. The incident is under investigation. Kerstetter joined the force in January 2023.
