Manitoba's IIU investigates death of unresponsive man in police custody after medical clearance.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba is investigating the death of a man found unresponsive in a holding room at Winnipeg police headquarters. Arrested on an outstanding warrant, he was medically cleared by a paramedic before being placed in custody. He was discovered unresponsive during a routine check and, despite receiving emergency care, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The IIU is now leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
