Auckland Airport raises NZ$1.4bn to upgrade with a new domestic terminal, aims to open by 2029.

Auckland Airport is raising NZ$1.4 billion (US$861.8 million) for a major upgrade, including a new domestic terminal, managed by Hawkins Construction. The NZ$2.2 billion project is expected to open by 2029 and aims to create 2,500 jobs. The funding will come from a NZ$1.2 billion share placement and a NZ$200 million retail offer. Despite the investment, airlines have expressed concerns about increased travel costs. The airport's profit surged 87% as international travel rebounds.
