61-year-old bushwalker Bing Wei missing near Thredbo, Snowy Mountains; search operation underway.
A search operation is underway in the Snowy Mountains for 61-year-old bushwalker Bing Wei, who went missing near Thredbo. Wei last contacted someone at 2:30 PM on Saturday, stating he was at a chairlift. His car was found at the Cascades car park, about seven kilometers southwest of Thredbo. The search, involving trained police and State Emergency Service volunteers, began at 1 AM Sunday amid freezing temperatures and strong winds.
