Minnesota DNR will partially lower Lake Bronson's water level on Sept 16 for dam inspection, leading to a complete drawdown for replacement by July 2027.
The Minnesota DNR will partially lower Lake Bronson's water level starting September 16 to inspect the aging dam built in 1936, which is in poor condition. This drawdown is the first step in a complete drawdown for a dam replacement project set to begin this fall and finish by July 2027. Access to the lake will be restricted for safety, though Lake Bronson State Park will remain open with some facility closures. A public meeting is scheduled for October 1.
