Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, advocates for a reform of the national education policy, highlighting a significant dropout rate and poor exam participation, with 10,177 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates absent last year. He proposes reintroducing primary and secondary exams to improve fundamental skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Concurrently, the government plans to allocate RM200 million to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
