Former Indian minority chairman urges Canadian Sikh leaders to address Quebec's Bill 21 on religious symbols.

Tarlochan Singh, former chairman of India's National Commission of Minorities, is calling on Sikh leaders in Canada to address Quebec's Bill 21, which bans public servants in authority from wearing religious symbols, including turbans. He highlighted the successful amendment of similar laws in the UK and expressed disappointment over the inaction of Canadian Sikh MPs. Singh suggested seeking support from the Catholic hierarchy in Quebec to challenge the law, upheld by the Quebec Court of Appeal in February 2024.
