Zach Penrod, a 27-year-old left-handed pitcher, is set to make his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox after a challenging journey, including Tommy John surgery and three seasons in independent baseball. He was signed by Boston in August 2023. His debut will be attended by his wife and newborn daughter. The Red Sox also made roster changes, recalling Bailey Horn and designating Tyler Heineman for assignment. Carlos Correa of the Twins has returned from the injured list.
