Over 500 claims were enabled by a new law allowing survivors to sue regardless of timing. Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of New Orleans proposed a $62.5 million settlement to about 500 victims, significantly lower than the $1 billion requested, while pledging reforms in reporting abuse.
