Man released early under UK prison-crowding scheme charged with sexually assaulting woman.

A man released under the UK government's early release scheme to combat prison overcrowding has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman on the same day of his release. The scheme, reducing time served from 50% to 40% for certain inmates, resulted in approximately 1,750 prisoners being freed. The policy excludes serious offenders, including sex offenders. The accused has been recalled to prison and is set to appear in court next month.
