3D-printed "Glock switches," or machine gun conversion devices (MCDs), allow handguns to be transformed into fully automatic weapons, raising alarm among federal officials. These inexpensive devices, which can be printed for about 40 cents, have been linked to violent incidents, including a shooting in Alabama. The ATF reports a 570% increase in recovered MCDs over the past decade. The Justice Department is launching initiatives to curb their production and usage.
