Irish Deputy PM Micheál Martin called for a review of the Toscan du Plantier murder case decisions and faster case processing.

Irish Deputy Prime Minister Micheál Martin expressed deep shame over the lack of justice in the 1996 murder case of French filmmaker Sophie Toscan du Plantier. He stated that the case against main suspect Ian Bailey should have gone before a jury. Bailey was convicted in absentia by a French court in 2019, but Ireland denied extradition. Martin called for a review of the decisions blocking the trial and emphasized the need for faster case processing in Ireland's justice system.
