India establishes "Golden Cities Club" for top-ranked clean cities and plans to clean 200,000 polluted sites.
India's Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced the creation of a "Golden Cities Club" for cities that have excelled in cleanliness rankings, such as Indore and Surat. These cities will compete separately, allowing others to aim for improvement. The government also plans to clean 200,000 polluted sites and launch the 4S campaign to promote hygiene, marking the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
